An older business contact I know told me men used to be much more dismissive and even abusive toward their wives. In the "old days" he said, women were ignored or treated badly, and they loved their husbands completely.
These days men in the West are the most egalitarian and accommodating to women, yet most men are pretty unhappy.
People wonder why the marriage rates are falling...

Don't ever get married. Wait until late in life to have children, if any. Keep yourself as independent as possible and you'll have a happy life.
